Joliette, September 29, 2021 – It is through a societal business partnership that Les Entreprises Bourget de St-Paul, in Lanaudière, and Sel Drummond of the Center-du-Québec region have opted to make an original contribution to the cause of the fight against breast cancer, challenged by the fact that this disease will affect 1 in 8 women during her lifetime and that approximately 6,500 people are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in Quebec.
Inspired by the values defended by their respective companies, two seasoned businesswomen aware that breast cancer continues to be the 2nd leading cause of cancer death among women in Canada, Sonia Maltais and Chanel Hémond, Director – Business Development business of BOURGET Enterprises and Managing Director of Sel Drummond, formed the project to create a recurring and original source of funding for the benefit of research and, consequently, of the victims of this affliction which also affects 1% of men.
Unreservedly supported by the two companies, in the name of the struggle of Quebec women, the project consists of producing a brand new pink de-icing salt under the name of Déglacer Bourget which will become available in the markets in the fall of 2021; the color pink is a reminder of the strong symbol of the pink ribbon linked to the incessant fight against breast cancer. “As women and as business leaders, we cannot remain insensitive to this harsh reality which strikes Quebec women head on. and Quebeckers, all the more so because our companies cultivate this desire to act, year in and year out, in the name of the collective and community interest, well beyond commercial interests ”said today Mesdames Maltais and Hémond. . Defrosting Bourget Rose has been designed to facilitate handling, both for its ease of use and its weight of 5 kg, which can be safely handled by people who have undergone an operation for breast cancer. The product will be made available at Canac, Timber Mart and in participating branches of the Jean Coutu Group and Metro.
